Can you imagine Richard Yates getting rejection after rejection from the NY'er and Roger Angell saying, "Oh this is so close, please do keep us in mind again." (well this is true, and the letters are in Yates' biography) Richard Yates! Someone on par with Chekhov. Come on Roxane, you are such a powerful writer.
